Total Members: 26
Total Certified Members: 21
Effective Certified Staffing: 17 (3 leave, 1 waiver)
* Note that for a 30 day month it requires 20 certified members reliably running 6 volunteer shifts in order to properly cover the first out squad.
We are pleased to report that all certified members (waivers and leave non-withstanding) completed at least the required shifts again for the month of January. This makes four months in a row we’ve been able to report such.
Extra thanks goes to the members pulling additional shifts above and beyond the call.
Operations
Department shift coverage continued to be less problematic during the month of January due in combination to achieving expected shift performance for all certified members and continued additional help from some. We are pleased to report that this is the fourth month in a row where all certified members completed at least the expected number of shifts. There were also no out of service periods during the month. There was one shift January 21st where staffing was such that only one member (Paramedic Steve Weigold) was available to respond as a first responder. No transports were lost as a result of the staffing shortage.
Public Relations
There were no significant public relations efforts in January to report.
Meetings
In the course of department operations, members attended official meetings as follows:
-
January 12 – St. Clair Township Trustees Meeting – Chief Steve Weigold
-
January 28 – Butler County EMS Council Meeting – rescheduled due to weather – Chief Steve Weigold
Grants
The Communications Infrastructure Project has reached a milestone as our new phone and voicemail system has been installed and is functioning. Several minor functional upgrades remain but otherwise the project is substantially complete.
Websites
Note that while the maintenance of the township websites is not directly under the Life Squad’s area of responsibility, it is currently being done by a Life Squad member and as such, a report on the websites is now being included here in the absence of a more appropriate venue.
Both the Life Squad website as well as the township website have received substantial overhauls during the month of January. The changes include installing content management software which will allow easier additions to the sites as well as the designation of multiple “authors” allowing several people to update the content. A similar update of the Fire Department website is planned for the month of February. Gallery software has also been added which allows easy addition and management of images. For the Fire Department and Life Squad this will be used for managing images of incidents. For the Township this will allow a means for management of images of Township resources as well as zoning related images.
In particular, the following site postings were made during the month of January:
